Greece
the fifteen day trip

Day 1: Starting from Athens you can make a nice sailing voyage to some of the Islands in the Saronic and Argolic gulfs and to some small fishing villages along the coast of the Peloponnese.
Day 2: The first harbour we usually call at is Epidavros, a small, natural harbour on the Peloponnese. Here you can visit a world famous amphitheatre, famous for its wonderful acoustics. If you like to sing, this is your chance.

Day 3: We set sail to the small and picturesque fishing village of Perdika. In the evening you can enjoy awonderful sunset while having your dinner on the terrace of a local restaurant.

Day 4: The following day we sail to the bay of Poros. There, a white village steps up the hillside. Moored along the quay, you soon notice that this little town has more to offer than taverns and souvenirs. Every morning the horn sounds from the nearby navy barracks. If you are lucky you will see the Greek naval cadets getting off the ferry, returning from their leave.

Day 5: The island of Hydra is an artist’s colony. Old merchant houses cover the hills overlooking the harbour and auto traffic is prohibited. Everything is transported from the ships to the houses by mule.
Day 6: The next day’s sail will bring you to the island of Spetses, were the wooden fishing boats that are so characteristic of Greece are built. This rich island was the birth place of Boubalina, the woman that liberated Greece from the rule of Venice.

Day 7: If the weather is good we will set sail to Monemvasia. This beautiful medieval city lies in a very strategic location, on a high cliff. Or, we can sail to Navplion, a nice old city whose architecture is derived from the days when Greece was ruled by Venice.
Day 8 - 10: During the next few days we usually visit some very small fishing villages. The water in these harbours is so clear that you can see the bottom. These villages are ringed by high mountains and are nearly impossible to reach by land. There are hardly any tourists and the villages have a simplicity that is hard to find elsewhere in modern Greece.

Day 11: Sailing back North, towards Athens, we stop at the big natural bay of Porto Heli.
Day 12: The following day we come in the surprising nice harbour of Ermioni. Or, if the weather is nice, we can stay overnight in some bay of an uninhabited island, were we can have a barbeque on the beach.

Day 13: Back on the island of Aegina, also known as the pistachio island, we go visit the busy city of Aegina. The harbour of this busy little town is full of activity. Ferries, fishing boats, and yachts come and go. The lively main boulevard is crowded with taverns.
Day 14: From Aegina we sail back to Athens.
Day 15: Flight back home.
